I could buy a font manager besides font book, but I teach in a computer lab that only has fontbook, so I'd like to keep a parallel system if possible (but that's looking less possible at the moment-I hate to think how many hours I've wasted on this so far)įYI, I have no fonts in home:library:fonts. I have read the Kurt Lang article (font mgmt in osx), and I've tried the steps in "undoing font book." all to no avail. I’ve tried several times to de- and re-install InDesign 15.0 and 15.0.1, log out from and back in to my Cloud account, deleting all relevant AppData folders (local and roaming), clearing caches, checking the fonts folder for faulty or badly named font files, applying the 15.0 fontmanager patch with InDesign 15.0 etc. I went through a series of "fixes" about a week ago, but now it's all back (the resurgent problem corresponded with an Apple software update, but that might be a coincidence). ![]() Disabling it would add this defaults key to the settings. or use your favorite font managing tool to tidy up your list. if any fonts WERE installed outside of your control. I used to disable font smoothing in System Preferences General prior to Big Sur, which is not possible anymore. im so sick of these snarky 'non-answers' prior to the cloud paradigm, i dont recall adobe tools auto-installing a bunch of stuff you COULDNT remove. You have to log out (perhaps even reboot) to see the changes across the entire desktop. Furthermore, my basic system Times doesn't show up in InDesign (though fontbook says it's enabled, and it's in the system menu, so it should be always on). This works for me: Code: defaults -currentHost write -g AppleFontSmoothing -int 0. Most of them are turned off, however one very large collection/library of fonts always shows up in the menu as activated (Pages, entourage, indesign), making for some very slow loading times and unnecessarily lengthy menus.
